USER INTERFACE ELEMENTS

Security software firm infoLock Technologies contracted with me to produce new graphical Web icons for their Web site. These images needed to incorporate the specific PMS colors of the client's logo, and also needed to match the perspective used in the company's logo.

Biotechnology company Perkin Elmer sought to migrate the user interface for one of its gas chromotography instruments from a keypad to a touch screen. I designed a series of related icons, produced graphic design prototypes for all screens, and developed all digital images for the touch screen, and continue to provide icon design work on an ongoing basis for new gas chromatograph interface updates. Since then, I have developed additional graphical icons on an as-needed basis for the firm.

An article about the major user interface redesign I helped create appeared in American Laboratory magazine.

WEB DESIGN

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
I undertook a project user experience design project — and then a project manager role — for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in developing their Growing Inclusive Markets Web site. I first developed the HTML wireframes and wrote technical specs to be used for building the full database-driven site. I then managed the project development and launch for this Joomla-driven, multilingual site.

STAT!

For STAT! The Podcast of Clinical Neurology News and a second medical news podcast, I streamlined the team's editorial production and publication process with a single WordPress blog. I implemented plug-ins, provided extensive training and explanation of site statistics, and helped this novel podcasting organization get work done much more efficiently.

For Polaris Management Partners, a management consulting firm for the pharmaceutical industry, I redesigned their Web presence in an extremely short timeframe. I created new graphics based on PowerPoint charts, developed comprehensive stylesheets, and included a DTHML navigational structure for their clients engagement page.

PRINT DESIGN

I design and lay out 500-page annual research compendia for Media Dynamics, a media, marketing and advertising consultancy. These include print and e-book versions for TV Dimensions and Magazine Dimensions. I lay out these periodicals using QuarkXpress; I also create fully linked tables of content and indices (using Sonar Bookends) for the e-book versions. TV Dimensions

Ziff Davis Media's Baseline magazine prides itself on its infographics and visual innovations in presenting technical and financial information. HTML E-MAIL CAMPAIGNS

I've created HTML e-mail newsletters on an ad hoc basis for various clients over the years. Recently, I helped a design company called 2frogz troubleshoot the XHTML problems they were having with their e-mail newsletter service, which had instituted new validation tools.
